Nigeria records 91 new cases of coronavirus; total now 873

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Wednesday night confirmed 91 new cases of coronavirus in the country.

The centre said on its Twitter handle that 74 cases were recorded in Lagos, five in Katsina, four in Ogun and two each in Delta and Edo.

Kwara, Oyo, Adamawa and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) recorded one case each.

With this figure, the total number of people that have been infected by the virus is now 873.

While 197 persons have been discharged from hospitals and isolation centres after recovering from the disease, 28 cases have died from COVID-19 complications.

The disease has infected people in 25 states of the federation and FCT.

It said: “As at 11:25 p.m. 22nd April 2020, there are 873 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria.

“The breakdown of cases by state shows the following: Lagos-504, FCT-119, Kano-73, Ogun-24, Katsina-21, Osun-20, Oyo-17, Edo-17, Kwara-10, Kaduna-9, Akwa Ibom-9, Borno-9, Bauchi-8, Delta-6, Gombe-5, Ekiti-4, Ondo-3, Rivers-3, Jigawa-2, Enugu-2, Niger-2, Abia-2, Benue-1, Anambra-1, Sokoto-1, Adamawa-1.”
