Buhari is a full-blown dictator – PDP senators

Published

on

Senators of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have accused President Muhammadu Buhari of tactically suspending the nation’s Constitution and running the country as a full-blown dictator.

The senators, who spoke to New Telegraph, made the remarks while reacting to the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Hon. Justice Walter Onnoghen, last Friday by President Buhari. Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe (PDP – Abia South) said that the action of the President against Onnoghen was tantamount to suspension of the nation’s Constitution.

Abaribe also said that, as long as the action of President Buhari was in utter disregard to the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the suspension of the CJN was illegal as well as a nullity.

He, therefore, called on the National Assembly, as the last hope of the common man and beacon of democracy, to stand and defend the country’s democracy, which he said, has come under serious threat under the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government.
