Despite criticising husband, Aisha says she’s committed to Buhari’s success

Wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, Aisha, appears to have dropped her earlier position on her support for the President as she on Thursday said she was committed to the success of her husband’s leadership.

Aisha had weeks ago, in an interview with the BBC Hausa Service, among other things warned that she may not support the re-election of her husband in 2019 if the President fails to shake up his cabinet.

Her comment saw many Muslim clerics demanding that the President put her away as his wife, while the president in his response described her as belonging only to his “kitchen, the living room and the other room”.

However, when she paid a visit to Benisheik, which is among the liberated towns of Borno State, to kick-start the distribution of relief items to displaced rural women under the gesture of the Get Involved initiative, a sub-component of her pet project, Future Assured, told the people that she was committed to seeing her husband succeed as Nigeria’s president.
