A 45-year-old Gardner, Phillip Ononaku, who allegedly defiled a 13-year-old girl, has been remanded at the Kirikiri Prisons by an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court.

The Police prosecutor, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie on Tuesday told the court that the defendant committed the offence in January at Olopomeji, Oworonshoki area of Lagos.

Ihiehie said that the suspect would pay the victim either N200 or N100 after committing the act.

“The defendant and his friend took the little girl home one day when she missed her way and since then, he would come to her house to lure her with money so he can sleep with her’’ he said.

The prosecutor added that the girl opened up after series of threats when her grandmother noticed that she wasn’t walking normally.

The Magistrate, Mrs E. Kubeinje, however, refused to take the plea of the defendant and ordered that he should be kept behind bars

She adjourned the case until June 27, for mention.
