ELECTION POSTPONEMENT: INEC blames fire incidents, late court judgements

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has advised the public to disregard different results of elections that have been circulating on social media

The commission insists that only INEC had the constitutional rights to announce results, thereby distancing itself from the online results.

The electoral body via its twitter handle on Sunday, @inecnigeria, noted that elections were still ongoing in some polling centres while the details of the process would be made available.

It said, “It has also come to our notice that some election ‘results’ are circulating on the various social media platforms.

“Kindly disregard such ‘results,’ as only INEC is constitutionally empowered to declare the outcome of the elections.”
