Intrigues as Transport ministry stall inauguration of boards
Power play as well as allegations of conflict of interests in the Ministry of Transportation has stalled the inauguration of boards of key agencies under the ministry, investigations by PUNCH correspondents have revealed.
Checks by PUNCH correspondents revealed that despite the Presidential directive that all the recently constituted boards be inaugurated by March 9, 2018, the Minister of State for Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, has yet to comply.
A source in the ministry, who spoke on condition of anonymity, revealed that Sirika had resisted all entreaties to inaugurate the boards in order to retain direct control over the activities of key parastatals such as the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Nigerian Meteorological Agency and Nigeria Airspace Management Agency.
