MISSILE TESTS: US pressures China to impose more sanctions on North Korea

The United States of America is pressuring Asian giants, China to pile more economic sanctions on pariah nation, North Korea led by defiant leader Kim Jong Un for its continued missile tests.

The US made the move during high leveled talks in Washington involving Chinese diplomats and defence chiefs with President Donald Trump saying that Chinese efforts to use its leverage with Pyongyang had failed.

He said the failure of China to impose more sanctions on Pyongyang is raising fresh doubts about his administration’s strategy for countering the threat from North Korea.

Addressing a joint press conference with Defence Secretary Jim Mattis, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said; “We reiterated to China that they have a diplomatic responsibility to exert much greater economic and diplomatic pressure on the regime if they want to prevent further escalation in the region,”

In his comments, Mattis vowed to “Continue to take necessary measures to defend ourselves and our allies” against North Korea, which is working to develop a nuclear-tipped missile capable of hitting the United States.

North Korea’s continued missile tests has continued to ruffle the feathers of its neighbours and ‎the international community at large, especially America which has constantly lashed Pyongyang for daring to put world peace in jeopardy.
