NYSC to spend N87m on life jackets for corps members

The National Youth Service Corps is set to spend about N87,000,000 to purchase 2000 life jackets for corps members, especially those posted to the riverine communities and states.

According to the 2018 Budget which was approved by President Muhammadu Buhari for the scheme, the NYSC authorities listed a sum of N87,952,079 for the purchase, which is captured under item ERGP22100715.

The PUNCH correspondent learnt that the NYSC also intended to purchase three Hilux vans for the inspection of corps members’ locations, which would cost about N52,000,000.

Other capital projects listed for the NYSC in 2018 are the purchase of skill acquisition training equipment and entrepreneurship development put at N120,704,272, and the renovation of five NYSC orientation camps nationwide, which would gulp about N39,000,000.
