Omagbemi, Nkwocha, Chiejene to lead Falcons

The Nigeria Football Association has appointed the trio of former defender and captain Florence Omagbemi, striker Perpetua Nkwocha and ex-goalkeeper Ann Chiejine as the new coaching crew of the Super Falcons.

The NFF, on Wednesday in a statement, said Omagbemi will head the crew in the interim pending the appointment of an expatriate coach.

“In consonance with its determination to find a holistic solution to the dwindling fortunes of the Senior Women National Team, Falcons, Committee approved the recommendation of the Technical and Development Committee for the appointment of A competent expatriate Coach, within the shortest possible time, for the team,” the Nigeria Football Federation said in a statement on Wednesday.

“The expatriate Coach will be assisted by former Super Falcons’ Captains, Florence Omagbemi, Perpetua Nkwocha and Ann Chiejine, with Bala Mohammed as Goalkeeper Trainer. Omagbemi will head the crew in acting capacity in the meantime.”

The coaching crew first assignment will be the second round qualifying match of the 2016 Africa Women Cup of Nations in April against either Guinea or Senegal.

The African Women Championship is billed for Cameroon from November 19 – December 03, 2016.
