Residents of Awka in Anambra State are protesting high tariff bills by the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC), allegedly being managed by oil magnet, Sir Emeka Offor.

Ripples gathered that the people who are piqued over what they described as arbitrary price fixing, have urged President Muhammadu Buhari to beam his search light on the activities of the company in the South East.

At issue, it was gathered, is that some of the flats in the state are now paying as high as N7, 000, while others are paying between N4,000 to over N5,000 monthly.

Most of the customers are being billed by EEDC through estimated bills without reading their metres.

It was furthermore gathered that some of the areas where these bills were sent had not had electricity supply for over three months, while EEDC gave light intermittently to some areas.

According to Sunday Okafor, a resident, “This is wickedness and the president should look into activities of EEDC in this zone otherwise some people are likely to die as a result of the bills, especially those who have no tangible thing doing.”
