US expands military presence as more asylum seekers, refugees arrive US-Mexico border

According to US defence chief, he has been given an extra authority from above to use military power at border if necessary.

Hundreds of Salvadoran migrants and refugees fleeing poverty and violence, have arrived the US-Mexico border despite obvious threats.

Reports say nearly 250 Salvadorans form the latest caravan of migrants and refugees to set out to the United States.

The migrant influx had earlier forced Trump to declare that he will deploy military and close the southern U.S. border.

Trump warned he will carry out the threat if Mexico does not halt the caravan of Central America migrants heading north, thus raising the risk of huge disruptions to trade.
