US lifts laptop ban on passengers flying Emirates, Turkish Airlines

Passengers flying Emirates, Turkish Airlines can now carry their electronic devices on board after both airlines confirmed that the US ban on such devices has been lifted.

The airlines say travelers flying to the US from Istanbul and Dubai are now allowed to carry laptops and other large electronic devices after the restrictions were lifted to the delight of many.

Reports say the announcement is coming three days after restrictions were lifted on Etihad Airways’ hub Abu Dhabi International Airport in the UAE.

Recall that the ban was imposed in the month of March on flights originating at 10 airports in eight countries – Egypt, Morocco, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and Turkey – to address fears that bombs could be concealed in electronic devices taken aboard aircraft.
