10 Nigerians awaiting evacuation in UK reportedly test positive for COVID-19

Reports emanating from the United Kingdom indicate that 10 Nigerians who registered to be evacuated back home have tested positive for the dreaded COVID-19 disease.

It would be recalled that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Godfrey Onyema had said that Nigerians willing to return to the country from abroad would be evacuated back home, with a condition that they would have to pay for their flights back and also be made to undergo compulsory COVID-19 test before departure.

According to Punch, 10 out of the 40 Nigerians who have been tested came out positive, causing panic and anxiety among staff of the Nigerian High Commission in London and other Nigerians who heard about the development when the test results were announced on Monday.
