2019: INEC publishes presidential, NASS candidates’ name today
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will today publish personal particulars of presidential and National Assembly candidates submitted to it by 89 political parties participating in next year’s general elections.
This, is in accordance with section 31(1) of the Electoral Act, 2010 (as amended), which provides for such publication within seven days of the receipt of CF001. INEC received particulars of the candidates from the parties between November 10 and 18.
This is in line with section 35 of the Electoral Act, which gives political parties 45 days to an election, to make such replacement.
Meanwhile, submission of governorship and House of Assembly candidates is ongoing and will end on November 2.
