6 killed as suicide bomber hits Maiduguri mosque again

Reports from Maiduguri have it that a suicide bomber detonated a bomb inside a Mosque located behind the Magistrates court, Polo area, during the morning Islamic prayers, killing 6 persons and injuring 17 others.

The National Emergency Management Agency, while confirming the attack, said rescuers evacuated six dead bodies of the victims of the early morning blast.

Also a health worker confirmed that the corpse of the 6 dead victims have been deposited in the mortuary and that the 17 other injured victims are being treated in Specialist and teaching hospitals in Maiduguri.

Reports also have it, that the two accomplices of the lone suicide bomber escaped after they were accosted by members of the community’s vigilante team who noticed their suspicious movement.

Less than two weeks ago, about 42 people died in a deadly bomb blasts that rocked a mosque in Maiduguri, when two suicide bombers blew themselves up in another mosque.
