Ban Ki-moon hints he could run for S.Korea’s presidency

Outgoing Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon has dropped the biggest hint yet that he could contest to become the next president of the Republic of South Korea.

While addressing his final press conference as a UN chief, Mr. Ki-moon revealed that after his tenure expires at the end of this month, he will take a rest and ponder on how best to help his country and possibly vie in the next presidential elections scheduled for December 2017.

Mr Ban’s comments is coming amid ongoing protests in the South Korean capital, Seoul.

However, a poll could take place within two months after the country’s parliament voted to impeach current President Park Geun-hye over an influence-peddling scandal.
