Bayern sink PSV as Benfica stun Dynamo Kiev

Bayern Munich enjoyed a better night in the Champions League than their old boss Pep Guardiola on Wednesday as the Bundesliga title holders took on their Dutch Eredivisie counterparts, PSV Eindhoven.

PSV have made a slow start to the season in their domestic league and the Champions League has been similarly disappointing for a team who stuck it out to the quarter-finals last year.

The Dutch side were two goals down thanks to Thomas Muller and Joshua Kimmich early on in the match but striking before the first half was out, Luciano Narsingh gave PSV a fighting chance.

Robert Lewandowski scored in the 59th minute to diminish the visitors’ chances of taking a much needed point home, and Arjen Robben added insult to injury in the 84th minute to wrap up Bayern’s three points.

Benfica put two goals past Dynamo Kiev to claim victory, the first a penalty converted by Eduardo Salvio in the ninth minute, with Franco Cervi netting the second in the 55th minute.

The closest match of the night was between Napoli and Besiktas, even if the Italians completely dominated possession with 63 per cent of the ball.
