BREAKING: 499 new COVID-19 cases take Nigeria’s total to 30,748; death toll now 689

Nigeria on Thursday night recorded 499 fresh COVID-19 cases.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), which confirmed this on its Twitter handle, said the fresh cases were recorded in 23 states of the federation and Abuja.

It added that five persons died from complications resulting from the virus on Thursday.

Consequently, the number of COVID-19 fatalities increased from 684 to 689.

Also, the total number of confirmed cases increased to 30,748.

Meanwhile, 12,546 patients had been discharged from various isolation facilities across the country as at Thursday night.

The breakdown of the figure on a state-by-state basis revealed the following: Lagos (157), Edo (59), Ondo (56), Oyo (31), Akwa Ibom (22), Borno (21), Plateau (19), Kaduna (18), Katsina (18), Bayelsa (17), FCT (17), Delta (14), Kano (11), Rivers (10) and Enugu (8).

Others are – Ogun (6), Kwara (4), Imo (3), Nasarawa (2), Osun (2), Abia (1), Ekiti (1), Niger (1) and Yobe (1).

The NCDC said: “30,748 cases of #COVID-19 in Nigeria.

“Discharged: 12,546 AND Deaths: 689.”
