BREAKING: One shot as gunmen abduct students, lecturers from Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Kaduna

The community of Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic in Zaria Kaduna State breathed a sigh of relief as the six students and two staff members who were kidnapped by bandits have been released.

They were released on Thursday night at an undisclosed location in Kaduna, according to a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Polytechnic, Abdullahi Shehu.

Shehu said the kidnapped students and staff members regained their freedom after their parents and relatives negotiated with the bandits.

He however, did not say specifically if any ransom was paid or not.

Bandits had attacked the polytechnic on June 11, 2021, kidnapping the victims from their hostels and staff quarters.

Samuel Aruwan, the state commissioner for internal security and home affairs, said that two students — Ahmad Muhammad and Haruna Duniya — were hit and both sustained gunshot injuries.

Aruwan had said the wounded students were taken to hospital for medical attention, but “sadly, Ahmad Muhammad succumbed to his wounds and died.”
