Buhari, Aisha cast votes in Daura

An entourage of waiting Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials welcomed President Muhammadu Buhari and his wife, Aisha, who have both cast their ballots in the Governorship and State House of Assembly elections.

Within a few moments of arriving Sarkin Yara A Ward Polling Unit 003 in Daura, Katsina State at 8:00 am, President Buhari and his wife did accreditation and cast their votes in four minutes.

Recall during the last presidential and National Assembly polls, social media platform Twitter went into a meltdown after pictures and clips of President  Buhari seemingly double-checking to see if his wife, Aisha voted for him at the same polling unit in Daura surfaced online.

Many were miffed by the overbearing act of Mr President with some criticising his move saying it is against electoral laws, while a Twitter user said Buhari’s action could pass for voter intimidation.

Another Twitter user said Buhari’s action of peeping into Aisha’s ballot paper shows he has trust issues with his wife who has in the past been sending innuendos about her husband’s administration.
