Despite presidential apology, protesters return to streets of Seoul

A day after President Park Geun-hye apologised on TV for the controversy caused by allowing her friend and confidante Choi Soon-sil to become too close to the corridors of power and decision-making, thousands of protesters have returned to the streets of Seoul, South Korea.

Reports coming in from Seoul suggests that scores of people from all walks of life turned up to protest, indicating that people were still outraged and unwilling to accept the president’s apology.

According to an Aljazeera correspondent; “Many here say they don’t feel the apology is a sincere one and they are here to call for her to step down”.

Continuing, the correspondent added that; “The wheels of goverment are turning but [President] Park is running out of luck on the political front as she is on the popular front”.
