Despite sanctions, North Korea declares it will continue to enhance its nuclear ability

Defiant North Korea led by headstrong leader Kim Jong Un has vowed to enhance its nuclear-strike ability despite sanctions from the United Nations.

That much information was revealed by Pyongyang deputy ambassador to the UN Kim In Ryong, who said North Korea would never abandon its “nuclear deterrence for self-defense and pre-emptive strike capability” even if the US ratchets up sanctions and pressure “to the utmost.”

Last weekend, North Korea tested a longer-range missile which experts say was a significant advance for a weapons programme that aims at having a nuclear-tipped missile that can strike America.

The comments by Pyongyang’s deputy ambassador is coming after Pentagon chief James Mattis warned that a Military action on the Korean peninsula over North Korea’s continued missile activities would be ‘tragic and on an unbelievable scale’.

The military chief delivered the sombre caution days after North Korea led by defiant leader Kim Jong Un test-fired what analysts say was its longest-range rocket yet despite tough talks from top US officials in recent weeks.
