Dogara wants early preparations for 2016 Olympics

‎The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, has tasked the National Sports Commission, various sporting federations and the athletes on early preparation for the Rio Olympics in Brazil next year.

Dogara while praising the members of Team Nigeria for their gallant performance at the just concluded All Africa Games in Congo Brazzaville said that the National Assembly will continue to make budgetary provisions for the improvement of welfare of athletes in addition to providing modern sporting facilities.

The Speaker who hailed the athletes for finishing in second place in the overall medals table added that the specular performance displayed by the athletes in Congo “is reflective of the true Nigerian spirit and worthy of commendation.”

“The performance of Team Nigeria has demonstrated that with unity of purpose, hard work and determination there is nothing that is not achievable.

“With your encouraging performance at the All Africa Games, we expect you to improve on it in next year’s Olympics in Brazil,” he added.
