Apparently disturbed by issuance of unauthorized statements to the public, the national chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) John Odigie-Oyegun, has warned all members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) and spokespersons of the party in the states to stop speaking on behalf of the party’s national secretariat.

According to a statement issued on Friday, Oyegun said the measure was necessitated by the fact that some unauthorised persons have recently been issuing statements on behalf of the party.

He said it was totally wrong and unacceptable to issue unauthorised statements stressing that it was “only the National Chairman and the National Publicity Secretary that can speak for the party on national issues”.

The party chairman warned that any member of the NWC or the party generally who wishes to speak on behalf of the party should “expressly” clear such statement with him.

He also cautioned that all the state publicity secretaries of the party should henceforth “restrict their statements to issues concerning their various states”.
