It was another bloody day in Adamawa State on Sunday, as Fulani herdsmen attacked four communities in Girei Local Government Area of the state, leading to the death of about 30 people, including the Divisional Police Officer of the area, DPO, Okozie Okereofor.

According to reports, the suspected herdsmen raided Demsare, Wunamokoh, Dikajam and Taboungo. The raid is believed to be in continuation of an existing crisis between them and farmers in the area.

The DPO was reportedly ambushed when he was leading police officers to the disputed area. He was killed in the eventual shootout.
