EFCC urges court to ignore Dasuki’s cry for freedom

A Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting in Maitama, Friday adjourned the trial of the immediate past National Security Adviser, NSA, Sambo Dasuki, to February 4 to hear his application for a stay of proceedings.

The EFCC had arraigned Dasuki before the court on a 19 counts charge bordering on the diversion of N32 billion arms procurement fund.

The embattled former NSA filed an application for a stay of proceedings, alleging that the prosecution was in contempt of the court for disobeying the order of the court granting him bail.

Though the EFCC prosecutor, Rotimi Jacobs, disagreed with the application, urging the court to go ahead with the trial and hear the application with the substantive suit, Justice Baba Yusuf said he was inclined to hearing the application and reserved ruling on it.

The judge also ordered that all parties to the suit should be served with the processes relating to the application before the February 4 date.

It will be recalled Dasuki was re-arrested by operatives of the DSS at the gate of Kuje Prison after fulfilling the conditions of his bail.
