EPL: Huddersfield end United's unbeaten start; City shine as Leicester win at Swansea

Newly promoted side, Huddersfield Town ended the unbeaten run of Manchester United by securing a 2-1 victory at home over the Red Devils on Saturday.

United had only conceded twice in eight league games this season, but were already two goals down before the interval following two sloppy mistakes in front of goal.

Jose Mourinho made brought on Marcus Rashford and Henrikh Mkhitaryan at half time, and the former pulled one back for the visitors, nodding in a terrific cross by Romelu Lukaku.

United’s defeat resulted to an increase in the gap from the top of the table, as leaders Manchester City eased off Burnley at the Etihad Stadium to go five points clear.

Sergio Aguero equalled Manchester City’s all-time goalscoring record, opening the scoring with his 177th goal (level with Eric Brook’s record) for the club through a penalty on the half hour mark.

Nicolas Otamendi and Leroy Sane made it 3-0 in two second-half minutes to secure another resounding win for the Pep Guardiola’s side.

Former champions, Leicester City returned to winning ways after their last outing led to the dismissal of Craig Shakespeare as they outplayed Swansea City to earn just a second Premier League victory of the season.

Leicester produced a dominant display against the home side, with goals from federico Fernandez (own goal) and Shinji Okazaki made of no effect an Alfie Mawson goal, to give the Foxes their first win in seven games.

Earlier on Saturday, Chelsea defeated Watford 4-2. And in the other games, Stoke City fell 2-1 at home to Bournemouth as Crystal Palace were edged by a Newcastle’s late winner.

Southampton host West Brom later on Saturday.
