EBONYI: Sen. Ogbuoji plotting with INEC to allot 200,000 votes to APC during guber poll- PDP alleges

The governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi has denied he banned two journalists for life from covering and reporting state functions.

The governor was heavily criticised on different media platforms recently, after reports alleged he banned two journalists, a correspondents of The Sun newspaper Chijioke Agwu, and the Vanguard newspaper’s Peter Okutu, from reporting state functions.

The governor, was said to have taken the action against the journalists over negative reports they did about the state.

However, in a press statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr Francis Nweze, the governor said the audio and video evidence, where he supposedly carried out the act were false and figments of the bearers imagination.

“The governor never ordered a ban on any journalist from attending state functions.

“Having made the above clarifications; I, therefore, call on the general public, NUJ and others concerned to discountenance with the false reports, videos and audio as they are either a figment of the bearers imagination which they brought to bear or a deliberate attempt geared towards smearing the hard-earned good reputation and good media relationship of the governor.
