ICPC arrests wanted Obono-Obla

The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) has arrested the former chairman of the Special Investigation Panel on Recovery of Public Property, Okoi Obono-Obla.

Obono-Obla, who was declared wanted in October 2019, was arrested in Abuja on Friday.

His arrest was confirmed by the spokesperson of the anti-graft agency, Rasheedat Okoduwa, who simply said “yes, he is with us. He has been arrested”, when she was asked to confirm.

It would be recalled that Obono-Obla was suspended through a letter from the office of Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, claiming the action had the approval of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The ICPC thereafter said there were allegations bordering on fraud and corruption against Obono-Obla, and also accused him of failing to honour invitations from it.
