An ad hoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) who took part in Saturday’s governorship election has died in a boat mishap at Odogwu, Ibaji local government area of the state.

The state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), James Apam, revealed this during the collation of the governorship and Kogi West senatorial rerun elections on Sunday.

He added the staff was a student of the state polytechnic in Lokoja and was among those recruited for the election.

A minute silence was observed in the honour of the deceased staff at the INEC head office in Lokoja on Sunday.
