Jibrin’s quest to set aside suspension suffers hitches as case is adjourned indefinitely

Abdulmumin Jibrin, suspended lawmaker and former Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations has gone on self-exile vowing not to return to Nigeria until his safety is assured.

The embattled lawmaker made his decision known on Monday in an interview aired on the London based Ben TV. He had last week left Nigeria for London to receive an award as well as take his anti-corruption campaign to the international community.

Jibrin in the interview explained that his decision to leave Nigeria was based on continued threats from some of the House members he accused of budget fraud. He alleged that a cabal in the House of Reps led by Speaker Yakubu Dogara, Deputy Speaker Yusuf Lasun, Whip Alhassan Doguwa and Minority Leader Leo Ogor are employing Herma Hembe to threaten him and his family members.

According to him, the initial silence of President Muhammadu Buhari on the issue of budget padding was a blessing in disguise as any statement from the President earlier would have been seen as the President making use of him to fight the House Leadership.

Dogara and his allies dodged the budget scandal matter without no investigation from Efcc and other anti- corruption agencies. to the extent that, mr president says nothing about it. what a country where some people are bigger than the law.
