KATSINA: Suspected COVID-19 case tests negative

The Katsina State government has announced that the suspected case of coronavirus also known as COVID-19 discovered in the state on Wednesday tested negative.

This was revealed on Thursday morning by the state commissioner for health, Engr Yakubu Danja, who said in a statement, that the result of the test, was negative, adding that there was no confirmed case of the coronavirus disease in Katsina State “for now”.

According to Engr Danja, the patient returned from Malaysia and developed symptoms that warranted further investigations which led to self-isolation and a series of tests for COVID-19 which turned out negative.

Speaking further, the commissioner for health called for high level of personal and environmental hygiene from the people, as he enjoined them to; “use alcohol base sanitisers, practicing cough ‎etiquette and avoiding mass social gathering except where necessary.”

Engr Danja also used the opportunity to disclose that the ministry has taken all precautionary measures and closely working with the National Centre for Disease Control on the matter.
