Kogi: INEC tells APC to name replacement for Audu

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has called on the All Progressives Congress (APC) to nominate another candidate to replace Prince Abubakar Audu, its candidate in the Kogi State governorship election, who died at the weekend so as to continue with the supplementary election.

The electoral body has also fixed Saturday, December 5 for the supplementary election.

Audu, a former governor of the state was leading the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Governor Idris Wada, with about 41,000 votes before his death became public knowledge.

INEC, in a statement signed by the secretary to the commission, Augusta Ogakwu, said it would allow the conclusion of the election process by conducting supplementary election in the remaining 91 polling units where elections were cancelled.
