Manchester City have regained the top spot of the Premier League after they defeated city rivals, Manchester United 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

The Pep Guardiola side returned to the summit after the win, as Liverpool had gone top earlier on Sunday with 2-0 win over Fulham.

David Silva bundled home an early goal to give the hosts a narrow interval advantage.

Sergio Aguero doubled their lead when he finished past David de Gea three minutes into the second half, before Anthony Martial halved the deficit through a penalty.

Substitute Ilkay Gundogan added the third for City four minutes to time to seal the win for the Blue side of Manchester.

Meanwhile, at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal were trailing by a goal to their visitors Wolverhampton Wanderers until the 86th minute when substitute Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored a late equaliser.

Ivan Cavaleiro’s close-range finish had put the visitors ahead in the 13th minute.

Super Eagles forward, Alex Iwobi was hurled off as part of coach Unai Emery’s tactical change at the start of the second half.

Wolves thought they were heading to a win at the Emirates, but Mkhitaryan salvaged the point for the hosts as they extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to 16.

The fifth-placed Gunners are now three points behind fourth-placed Tottenham while Wolves remain 11th in the table.
