Murray, five others in World top-10 to play at Queen's Club

Tennis superstar Andy Murray is through to the quarter-finals of the Barcelona Open after a 6-4 6-4 win over Feliciano Lopez on Thursday.

The world number one who had a first-round bye and skipped a second round match after his opponent, Bernard Tomic, backed out because of injury, was made to work hard by the 16th seed in a round three match.

But the 29-year old only broke once in each set to reach his third quarter-final in six events so far in 2017.

“I was happy to play,” Murray said after his victory.

“I played well in some important moments.”

“It was nice to get through and have another match tomorrow,” said Murray, who will next face Albert Ramos-Vinolas.

Murray faced a third-round defeat to Spaniard Ramos-Vinolas in Monte Carlo on Thursday, before accepting a late wildcard to play in Barcelona.

Elsewhere, Dan Evans was defeated in the third round courtesy of a 7-6 (7-5) 6-2 defeat to Austria’s Dominic Thiem.
