Nwakali voted MVP as Osimhem sets new goal record

Golden Eaglets captain, Kelechi Nwakali, has been voted as the Most Valuable Player of the just concluded FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile by the FIFA Technical Study Group of the tournament.
Nwakali whose contributions helped the Eaglets retain solidity in the midfield, won the trophy ahead of team striker, Victor Osimhen and Mali’s Aly Malle who emerged second and third respectively.
The Adidas Golden Boot award went to Victor Osimhen for his record-breaking 10 goals, seeing him surpass the nine goals scored by Florent Sinama Pongolle in 2001 and Souleymane Coulibaly ten years later.

Germany’s Johannes Eggstein got the silver boot while Eaglets skipper Kelechi Nwakali took the bronze medal.
Equador won the Fair Play award while Mali goalkeeper Samuel Diarra got the Golden Gloves award.
