Police bundles Melaye on stretcher to Kogi court

The travails of Kogi West Senator,  Dino Melaye continued on Thursday as the Nigerian Police moved him to Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.

Melaye was brought in an ambulance to Lokoja, and was arraigned on a stretcher before the Senior Magistrates’ court 2, Lokoja.

Police said that the senator is being arraigned over alleged criminal conspiracy, causing damage to government property, attempted suicide and escape from lawful custody.

The development is coming after police had also a day earlier arraigned Melaye before a magistrate Court in Abuja over attempt to commit suicide.

The senator had pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled against him and was subsequently granted bail by Magistrate Segun-Bello in the sum of N90 million with two sureties in like sum.

Melaye was however rearrested by the police at the court and was this morning taken to Kogi State to face another round of trial.
