Your people, not Obama voted you out, US tells Jonathan

It appears there is no end yet to the present administration’s perceived investigation of former President Goodluck Jonathan as security operatives on Wednesday raided a house belonging to his family in Abuja.

Jonathan had in June during an interview with Bloomberg in London, where he also delivered a speech titled, “Civis Nigerianus Sum– I am a citizen of Nigeria,” disclosed that he is currently under investigation for corruption.

He had said at that occasion, “Of course, obviously, I would be investigated. In fact I am being investigated. Investigations are going on. I would not want to make certain comments because government is working. It would not be proper for immediate past president to make certain statements. I will allow the government do the work. I wouldn’t want to make serious comments on that.”

The raid, captured in a video, of a house said to belong to wife of the former president, Patience Jonathan, is being considered by many critics as continuation of the investigation the past president talked about.

Unidentified security operatives were said to have on Wednesday raided the house which is located at Igbeti Rock Street, Abuja and left with an envelope which content is not known yet. They were alleged to have broken into the house with several weapons like hammer, chisel, pliers after overpowering and injuring a security guard at the house after telling him they were looking for a Barrister.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has continued to carry on its investigation on Patience Jonathan. Banks accounts which the former First Lady laid claim to have been frozen by the anti-graft commission, which almost on daily basis dish out stories on discoveries of more bank accounts and properties said to belong to the wife of the former President.

While EFCC continue to make claim it was Patience it is investigating, the question many critics continue to ask remains if she is no longer married to Jonathan. According to them, since she is still the wife of the former President, the properties, monies among others the commission is investigating her on, cannot be separated from her husband.

EFCC will soon be disgraced. Jonathan is not their bait at all. They should stop chasing after shadows

Buhari should channel his anti corruption fight elsewhere, he’s only chasing shadows with Jonathan’s family.

Jonathan is not a shadow. He is a human being. This is our problem in Nigeria, so because Jonathan was an ex president means that they should not investigate him, immunity is over.

Hmm. Immunity is eternity for ex presidents . If efcc wants to take the matter further, then they will probe obj, IBB, abdulsalam and other corrupt past presidents.

This is silly! How come they raided his house like armed robbers? This is becoming too much. No matter what they were looking for, they should respect the fact that they met someone in the building, injuring him only shows how desperate they were, I’m not surprised they vandalized things in the house

Are those Efcc or armed robbers in disguise of efcc. Those ones I am sure will always raid people at night as armed robbers because they are good at it.

Buhari should have tamed those idiots at least to respect Jonathan. I am sure Magu did that so he can be reconsidered but sorry is his name.

Well, immunity can only be enjoyed by serving presidents and governors. Jonathan should adhere to the laws of the security men.
