Only restructuring can save Nigeria from extinction- Ezeife

Former Anambra State governor, Chief Chukwuemeka Ezeife, on Friday said it was only those shying away from truth that did not know that Nigeria was at the brink of extinction.

He said except the country was restructured, nothing was going to stop its extinction, adding that those opposed to it are mere jokers.

Ezeife stated this on Friday when he spoke in Benin City at the 20th Professor Wole Soyinka annual lecture series, organised by the National Association of Seadogs.

According to Ezeife, should the demand for restructuring fail and Nigeria disintegrate, the northerners will lose the most.

He then called on Acting President Yemi Osinbajo to ensure that that issue of restructuring is completed before the middle of 2018.

He said, “Every honest Nigerian knows we are at the brink of extinction. Nigeria will cease to exist if we do not restructure. It is a joke for people to think we should not restructure.

“Northerners will loose most from the disintegration of Nigeria. We need to go back to the agreed Nigeria. Make the six zones federating units. Allow states in the zones to develop their own constitution.

“Osibanjo should make sure the issue of restructuring is complete by the middle of 2018. Make sure the zones control their security.”

The restructuring demand suffered what many analysts called a fatal blow recently after both chambers of the National Assembly voted against it in the just-concluded review of some items in the 1999 Constitution.

However, following great backlash, the Senate and the House of Representatives have said the issue can still be revisited when the lawmakers return from their annual break in September.

Kanu don’t even want to hear of restructuring except for Biafra and for the others who want restructuring, our Senate has said that no restructuring as well. So what’s the next step?

The only way out is biafra! Restructuring has never been part of our plans, Biafrans don’t care if Nigeria restructure, the only thing we care about is Biafra’s freedom.

Take it or leave it, this man just insulted the National Assembly like every other Nigerians did when they voted against restructuring. The problem of restructuring Nigeria is with the National Assembly, if the senate and reps can consider it, the acting president will have no choice than to restructure Nigeria.
