Deceit of Affluence, docility of citizenry and the scourge of an unimaginative Government

A second case of Lassa fever was confirmed Wednesday by the Kwara State Government in the Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state.

While briefing the media following state council meeting in Ilorin, the state capital, the Kwara State Commissioner for Information, Mallam Mahmud Ajeigbe, said that the victim was the father of the 10-year-old boy that had earlier tested positive for the disease.

Ajeigbe noted that the development meant that the father was the second person to be infected with the disease in the state.

On challenges limiting efforts to check the spread, the commissioner said the nomadic nature of the people, as well as limited enlightenment were key issues.

He stated that treatment and isolation centres had been set up at Omu-Aran, Ajase and Babanla health facilities with relevant equipment.

Ajeigbe called for better hygiene among the people, adding that the government was committed to ensuring healthy living among its citizens.
