Sheriff, Kashamu supporters dump PDP, say we can't cohabit with vampires

South West supporters of the ousted chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alli Modu Sheriff, have dumped the party for Mega Party Nigeria.

Some of the decamped Alao came from the Omo Ilu Foundation, the mobilisation arm of Buruji Kashamu political organisation.

The members, who regretted the Supreme Court judgement that sacked Sheriff’s leadership of the party, said that it was no longer possible for them to cohabit with the ‘vampires that have taken over PDP.

The former PDP members stated this on Wednesday at MPN office in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, accusing Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee of not treating Sheriff’s group with respect following its victorious emergence at the apex court.

They were led by a former PDP chairman in Ondo State, Mr. Ebenezer Alabi, and the Director General, Omo Ilu Foundation, Leke Adekoya.

Their leader, Alabi, further claimed as part of their grievances, the alleged substitution by Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose and Iyiola Omisore of names of members of the state executive council with their own supporters at the headquarters of the party in Abuja.

“The purpose of the struggle was to stamp out impunity in the party. We thought the Supreme Court judgment would teach us a good lesson but it was not so. The PDP has now been taken over by vampires that we cannot co-habit with,” Alabi said.

“We, who believe in the leadership of Sheriff, have therefore decided to move en masse to join forces with the Mega Party of Nigeria. It was registered in 2010 as Mega Progressives Party but we are transforming it to the new name to show the strength. The name will change officially next week.”

Their defection did not come by surprise as there have been speculations that Sheriff and his members are likely going to dump the PDP.

More of his supporters according to some political analysts may still leave the PDP including Sheriff himself, who could be sanctioned by the party anytime soon.
