Table Tennis: Assar seeks revenge against Quadri

Egyptian table tennis star Omar Assar has warned Nigeria’s Aruna Quadri to expect a revenge when both players clash at the International Table Tennis Federation African Senior Championships billed for Agadir, Morocco.

Assar, the reigning men’s singles champion, lost to Quadri for a second time in three meetings at the final of the men’s team event of the 2015 All Africa Games but vowed outshine Quadri at the championship which holds from October 24 to October 30.

The tournament serves as qualification for the World Team Cup and the ITTF World Table Tennis Championship, both in 2017, and the 2018 ITTF World Table Tennis Championship.

“I must admit that Aruna Quadri has played in top level recently in the French league and international events, so it will be interesting to see our match in Morocco especially in the men’s singles. I expect a good start with my teammates in team event first, then in singles I am very hungry to display a very good performance,” Assar told ITTF.com

“I have been preparing very well for this event and I am looking forward to a great performance. I had two weeks of physical, mental and technical preparation in Germany where I had my last training camp so I can say I am waiting for my good performance in Morocco.”
