U-20 WCQ: Falconets ease past Tanzania, to face Morocco next

Nigeria’s U-20 women’s team eased past their Tanzanian counterparts 6-0 in the return fixture of the first round of World Cup qualifiers at Dar es Salaam on Sunday.

Having come out on top 3-0 in the first leg in Benin, the Falconets secured an aggregate 9-0 win over Tanzania, to qualify for the second round of the qualifying series.

Goals by Rasheedat Ajibade, Folashade Ijamilusi, Anam Imo and Cynthia Aku secured the thumping victory for the Nigerian ladies on Sunday.

Falconets will face Morocco in the second round of the qualifiers. The first leg match will hold on 3 November in Rabat, while the second leg will take place on 18 November in Nigeria.

The Falconets will then face South Africa in the final round if they beat Morocco.

Ultimately, Morocco and South Africa stand in Nigeria’s way of participating in the ninth edition of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup tournament which will be hosted by France in August 2018.
