VON DG sustains call for Oshiomhole’s resignation, says he’s suffering from ‘ITK’

Director-General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), Osita Okechukwu on Wednesday sustained his call for the All Progressives Congress (APC) national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, to resign.

He described Oshiomhole as suffering from “Narcissism”, what according to him is referred to as “I too know (ITK)” in local parlance.

He said this when he appeared on Channels Television Sunrise Daily progamme, where he spoke on issues surrounding APC’s controversial primaries that have left Oshiomhole beleaguered with allegations of fraud and impunity.

Earlier on Tuesday, Okechukwu who lost the Enugu West senatorial ticket to Juliet Ibekaku, the special assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on justice reform, had in a statement also attacked Oshiomhole, accusing him of impunity and nepotism.

Speaking on the TV programme, where he described Oshiomhole as a calamity and insisted he resigned his position as APC chairman, Okechukwu said: “I think actually, unlike those who are saying he is a mole, I don’t think so. What I know is that as a social scientist, the little I could read on Adams Oshiomhole is that he suffers from Narcissism, what we know as I too know (ITK). So he doesn’t believe anybody except himself and that is costly to the APC. So, he should just resign.”

He said he had high respect for Oshiomhole when he emerged the party’s chairman just like most members of the party, “but today, three, four months down the line, he has grossly breeched the constitution of the APC, grossly divided the APC further that it is only Mr. President and the leadership of the party that can couple together the mess.”

Okechukwu noted that he was a member of the APC merger committee and as a result a foundation member like Oshiomhole.

He said, “We talked of change. Our motto is justice, peace and harmony. The constitution went further to say that if you want to conduct any primary or congress to elect anybody, it must be democratically done.”

Regretting that this was no longer the situation, Okechukwu said that the primaries of the party which is the bone of contention at the moment, left the party with its present crisis because the composition of the panels that conducted the election were allegedly filled with the Oshiomhole kinsmen.

He said, “What we noticed, especially in the South -east where I come from, is that Oshiomhole populated the leadership of the panels with his kindred and cronies.

“Go to the records of the outcome of those primaries, one in Kano, Kebbi, Akwa Ibom, (filled with) Edo people. Is that federal character principle? Is there no qualified chairman that could come from Jigawa, Kano, Ekiti, and Enugu?

“What I am saying is that the crisis on the ground could be located on preferences of kindreds and cronies because if he (Oshiomhole) was genuine, the National Working Committee could have been in a place to resolve the issue.

“If there was no authoritarianism or high handedness in his governance, these people could have looked into the composition.”
