We have to admit things are not right in Nigeria —Sultan laments

Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Abubakar III, has decried the worsening situation of things in Nigeria and said that it may get worse as the country prepares for the 2019 general elections.

He said if things were right in Nigeria that security issues like kidnappings and invessant “killings everywhere” should not have been.

He stated this at a one-day Dialogue on Democratic stability and national security, put together by the Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI).

He said, “We have to admit that if things were right in Nigeria we would not have all these security issues, kidnappings and killings everywhere.

“As we inch closer to elections, it is going to get worse, because politicians use this, so we have to be very careful what we say.

“When you see children going about killing themselves and burning houses, check their background, it’s either they did not go to school or they are not employed.”

Nigeria has continued to suffer mass slaughtering of its citizens either by Boko Haram terrorists, killer herdsmen or other criminal elements.

Only days ago, over 50 people were gruesomely murdered in Kaduna State, with hardly any week going by without reports of such killings in different parts of the country.
