Leaders of the APC are in a last meeting rush to avoid more crisis in the party over the choice of Senate president and House of Reps Speaker, as the National Assembly meets today (Tuesday) to elect its leaders.

Chairman of the APC governors’ Forum and Governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha called an emergency meeting to look into the crisis trailing a choice of new leaders for the National Assembly, which seems to be tearing the party apart.

A source at the secretariat told Premium Times that the meeting scheduled for 5p.m was to hold on Monday at the Imo state governors lodge in Asokoro Abuja.

The source said the meeting would discuss how to find a solution to the crisis generated by the election of a new Senate President and Speaker.

It was learnt that Vice president Yemi Osinbajo also decided to wade into the matter, as he reportedly invited all APC Reps-elect members to a meeting.

However, one of the lawmakers loyal to Yakubu Dogara, said they would boycott it.

“We received text messages from the party informing us of a meeting with the Vice President today; however, we see no difference between the Vice President and those trying to impose leaders on the House of Representatives, so we would not be attending,” he said.

Outcome of the meetings are being expected.
