Zola: Iwobi fantastic against Chelsea

Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola has praised Arsenal winger Alex Iwobi for his performance against the Blues yesterday.

Iwobi was named the man of the match for his display in the Gunners’ emphatic 3-0 victory at Emirates Stadium as he tormented the Chelsea defend.

Zola told BT Sport: “He was absolutely fantastic today and I gave him myself the man of the match. Today, not only him, Arsenal played in a fantastic way.

“We always said that Arsenal play good football. Sometimes I felt like they were getting a little bit sterile because they were passing sideways, but today they were direct in some moments and it was very difficult for Chelsea because they were getting into good positions but they couldn’t do anything.”

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has several wide options at his disposal and it is to Iwobi’s credit that he has managed to break into the side and hold his shirt.

The Nigeria international is superb at taking players on, while he is capable of playing neat passes at high speed. Iwobi was impressive in the victory over Hull City last weekend and he built upon that display against Chelsea.
