2019: Over 100 commissioners, govs’ aides seek elective positions for survival

Published

Over 100 political office holders, mostly state commissioners or governor’s aides, who are currently serving or have resigned their positions with their respective principals (governors), are either aspiring to vie for one elective position or the other across the country, Saturday Telegraph has learnt.

The development, according to investigations, is coming barely six months to the conduct of the 2019 general elections across the country.

Mostly affected are states dominantly controlled by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), where APC’s governorship primaries hold tomorrow (Sunday) while that of PDP comes up sometime in October.

While many of these political appointees hinge their resolves on the need to meet their personal aspirations, constituents’ yearnings, political ideological differences, rift with their principals (governors) among others, some say their decisions are largely premised on their desire to test their political might and popularities at higher levels.
