After 24hrs in custody ex gov Ngilari granted bail
An Adamawa State High Court, sitting in Yola, has granted bail to former Governor of the state, Bala Ngilari in the sum of N100 million.
Ngilari, who was arraigned on Thursday by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on allegation of buying 25 cars worth N167 million without due process, was also mandated by the trial judge, Justice Nathan Musa, to provide a surety who must have landed property in Yola.
Also granted bail was Ngilari’s co-accused, Sanda Lamurde, who served under Ngilari as commissioner for finance. He was granted bail in the sum of N50 million.
The judge also fixed ruling on the bail application filed by the third accused, Ibrahim Welye, who served as the Secretary to the State Government under Ngilari.
The EFCC arraigned Ngilari, Welye and Lamurde on a 16 count charge of conspiracy and unlawful processing of contract, on Wednesday, with the judge ruling that they should be remanded in custody.
But Justice Musa on Thursday stated that the prosecutor did not provide enough reason to deny them of bail and that the offences they were being charged for were bail able.
The judge adjourned till October 10 for hearing of the substantive suit.
