ALI BABA TO BUHARI: Create enabling environment, enact policies to promote the arts sector

Ace comedian Ali Baba has reacted cynically to the unusual occurrence of a former Governor of Plateau State, Senator Joshua Dariye, of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Plateau Central, who co-sponsored a motion while still in jail.

According to the comedian, situations such as that of Dariye is the reason why Nigeria is where it is today as he wondered how and why a senator who is serving a 14-year jail term for a crime is still having his allowance paid as a senator and former governor.

Reacting to the development, Ali Baba wrote thus on Instagram; “If you are looking for why our country is still as it is, here is one reason. An ex-governor who jumped bail in the UK to escape prosecution. Became a senator. Went to jail as a senator.

“And is still passing bills as a senator, from jail. And still getting his full allowances as Senator and former governor. All hail the Nigerian Constitution that allows everything, once you know what to do,” he added.

The motion before the Senate entitled, “Senseless killing of a Briton and the abduction of three others in a Holiday Resort in Kaduna State by Armed Bandits” which was presented by Senator Shehu Sani, PRP, Kaduna Central last Thursday, had Dariye’s name listed as one of the co-sponsors.

Senator Shehu Sani and one hundred and eight Senators co-sponsored the motion which is at the moment being debated on by the Senators with Dariye’s name appearing as number 89 on the co-sponsors list.
